BERTRAND BONNICK DDS, MAGD, AFAAID, DDOCS
Professional Summary—I am a highly motivated general dentist with over 3000 credit hours of continuing education in dentistry. I have attended three institutions for post-graduate training and obtained intensive training in Implant, Cosmetic, and Sedation Dentistry. I have also served as a dental instructor in both institutional and continuing education programs nationally. I am a founding member and group leader for an international healthcare volunteer organization, and have been in private practice since 1986.

2004 —2023 Relax Dental of the Triad (High Point, NC) • Serve as lead dentist and president of the organization; my roles include hiring, training, and completion with staff. In addition with the help of consultants I have expanded services, built a new facility, and completed a merger and acquisition with another practice.

2006 — Present High Point Regional Hospital — UNC • Served as member of hospital staff with full hospital privileges. Our staff coordinated both the pre-clinical examinations and admission of the patient when general anesthesia was needed for dental treatment.
1990 — 2004 Crown Heights Dental PC • Lead dentist and president of the organization, providing direction, guidance, and training for all the staff.
1990 — 1992 St. Vincent’s Hospital • Administered dental treatment to inmates at the Manhattan’s House of Detention — in all aspects of dentistry.
1990 — 1992 Fulton Dental Center • Provided comprehensive dental care for clients in the busy Wall Street area of Manhattan.
1988 — 1998 Long Island Jewish Medical Center - QHC Associate Clinical Professor • Responsible for the training of new residents in all facets of general and hospital dentistry. This position required live demonstration of technique for the doctors as a part of their advanced education.
1985 — 2003 CMM / Organization for International Development Mission Dentist • In 1985 and 1987 I worked as a dentist in the Dominican Republic with the Catholic Medical Mission. Started in 1990 up until 2003 I led 9 mission teams working in the underserved areas with the Organization for International Development.
1978 — 1983 Southwestern Publishing Company (Nashville, TN) Sales, Recruitment, and Management • Responsibilities included overseeing logistics, planning territories, and training.
1988 — Present Dental Lecturer • Have given seminars and lectures in implant, sedation, laser, and cosmetic dentistry — for organizations including the American Dental Association, National Dental Association, Jamaican Dental Association (1998), Old North State Dental Society, High Point Dental Society, Burlington Dental Society, and American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
2013 — Present American Academy of Implant Dentistry Associate Fellow • Four times per year the North Carolina chapter hosts continuing education seminars that include live surgery and anesthesia. Cases are presented by the membership and mentors. Mentors prepare members for the accreditation examination, and provide reading assignments to help them get prepared.
2004 — 2006 Guilford Technical Community College (High Point, NC) Instructor • Led instruction on the GTCC Dental Assisting Program, where students developed a working knowledge of instrumentation, procedures, as well as the application of various dental materials during patient treatment.
2008 — 2026 High Point Regional Medical Center Medical Staff • Consultant and Dental Emergencies on a rotating basis with full admitting privileges, first with UNC then with Baptist Hospital.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated Parliamentarian July 2021 — 2025 • Serve as the Parliamentarian of the Southern Region for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated over North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

August 1982 — May 1986 University of Maryland at Baltimore Doctor of Dental Surgery • Received training on clinical and didactic requirements to successfully treat dental patients, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
August 1977 — May 1982 State University of New York at Albany Undergraduate Program • Obtained a Bachelors of Science (cum laude) with a major in chemistry and a minor in mathematics and physics.
March 2004 — December 2004 MCG School of Dentistry / Atlanta Institute for Advanced Education AAID Comprehensive Implant Training Program • Training at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry included hands-on model work, assisting with live surgeries, review of the literature, challenging examinations, case presentations, and writing papers to prepare the student in completing the American Academy of Implant Dentistry credentialing process.
July 1987 — June 1988 Long Island Jewish Hospital Medical Center Chief Resident • Duties included a supervisory role in teaching new residents. Tasks included mentoring doctors once a week in operating room, completing orthodontic cases, complex crown and bridge, as well as rotations in medicine.
May 17, 2008 The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation Fellow (FDOCS) • Candidate is responsible for article writing, producing accepted case reports, while meeting continuing education requirements.
The Academy of General Dentistry Fellow (FAGD) July 1992 • Successful completion of the Fellowship examination and 500 credits of continuing education in the 13 areas of dentistry were required.
Sept. 10, 2009 The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation Diplomate (DDOCS) • After attaining Fellowship and completing over 200 credits in sedation, the candidate must publish a paper in this field, do a case report that is accepted, and pass the oral interview. I was recognized as the first dentist in North Carolina to successfully obtain the Diplomate credential.
The Academy of General Dentistry Mastership (MAGD) August 2006 • Successful completion of 1100 credits of continuing education in 13 disciplines of dentistry was accomplished. The requirements include successful completion of the Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry.
November 2006 The American Academy of Implant Dentistry Associate Fellow (AFAAID) • Candidates required to pass written examinations, lead successful presentation of 3 implant cases with single implant, multiple implants, and a complete arch. Successful completion leads to an invitation to defend your cases, as well as treatment plan 5 others with 2 credentialed Diplomates at a time for six stations.
Grand Canyon Theological Seminary Graduate Studies May 2021 • Completed advanced program in biblical studies to receive a Graduate Certificate of Completion in Biblical Foundations.

• How to Overcome Fear of the Dentist- Published by Authorhouse in 2010, this book is a patient’s guide to understanding dentistry. This book is often used in our training program for dental auxiliaries.
• Journal of Oral Implantology- I serve as a reviewer for this publication. My duties are to do a peer review of the articles, and make recommendations for publication including additions, deletions, and rejection.
